A: The birth control pill is supposedly 99% effective, so it's unusual that someone can become pregnant while on the pill. Research has shown that there is no increased risk of miscarriage or fetal malformations in women who have mistakenly continued to take birth control pills in early pregnancy. It is suggested that you stop taking the pill as soon as you know about the pregnancy and that you let your doctor know about it.
